From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative including angels, demons, and sinister influences expanding in power within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Spoilers for Episode 3 of the new season lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and introduced the first table of characters who will branch out from the main group to begin their independent quest, apart from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table features Teor (portrayed by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
Given an extensive roster, it was evident from the beginning that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.
That’s why, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three separate parties: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for participants who are drawn to a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where diplomatic options are rare.
Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might seem out of place, but the events of the third episode show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
First, the group knows exactly where to go next after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—used The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into the secret base, striking Thimble, and swiping all the magical artifacts to sell off.
The traitor then paid off his liabilities and fled to a fortified location in the northern region, above the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each character has a individual motive to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the close ally and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure knows Timmony and advises that it is a hostile location.
- The warrior and The cleric, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their reputation as prominent individuals in the influential clan could help the group reach locations they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, The fighter vowed a eternal obligation to The cleric for his rescue and will now follow him wherever.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that control the city for a multiple motives, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The cleric defied House Halovar and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the family.
This leaves them little choice but to head to the remote area in pursuit of the antagonist.
Future Episodes
According to the latest episode’s follow-up content, we learn that the combat party will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the players to assemble the Seekers and Schemers groups.
Audiences can anticipate finding out which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the season’s last Overture episode, streaming live on October 24.
