Nineteen of the Russian's 21 championships have been achieved on hard courts

A resurgent the Russian player claimed his first title for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has experienced a difficult year, winning just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in particular - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with former coach Cervara.

Presently working with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested three-set victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

It is his initial title after the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt since that period of the previous year.

Victory also indicates he has secured 21 titles at 21 various events.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to secure a title is particularly special," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six championship matches, including in the German tournament previously this season.

Medvedev's defensive strategy and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had caused commentators to wonder if his capacity to compete at the top level was concluded.

However the 29-year-old has made changes in recent weeks, striving to approach the net and compete aggressively, backed up by an better serve.

He came back from a deficit in the first set against the challenging opponent, taking four of the last five games to gain the advantage.

The pair swapped service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to push for a final set.

He rescued 4 initial chances in a close third set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.

Suitably, Medvedev earned the win with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
